Recently described new species for the family Snipe and Allies

Four captured woodcock from Dalton Pass, Luzon from the years 1966-1969 constitute the first certain records of this species, though their identity was at the time settled as Eurasian Woodcock Scolopax rusticola.

In February 1993, Harrap and Fisher flushed an individual of this species on the slopes of Mt. Kitanglad, Mindanao. There have been regular sightings from this site since as well as single records recently from Mts. Kimangkil and Malindang, both on Mindanao.
